2010 is a special year for me and for this blog as technically the life of this blog started during this year. I started this blog just as a personal stuff to share post for every Filipino around the world some great news (mostly sales/contests) out there where they can benefit from.

In just a year around 100 posts have been shared on this blog, which hopefully was able to make an impact in a small way to the lives of my followers/readers. I initially thought my relatives and friends would just be the followers and readers of my blog but to my surprise a lot of people followed or liked this page and even shared their comments.

Last year (2009), I just used to view blogs of some of my favorite bloggers but 2010 made it special as I was able to meet them and even join them on some events. I was afraid initially to mingle since I'm just a newbie and might be at par with their standards. Fortunately, I am surprised that they are kind group of people. I might be younger than them but they are even cooler when it comes to party and events. I hope this coming 2011, I would be able to join them more on events and balance it with my professional work. Hope to gain more blogger friends this coming year.

kahitanoito's 2010 experiences are not at all good. However, I treat them as a learning experience for me to enhance my craft and be more responsible. If in any way I have offended/harmed you (hopefully there's none), I hope you will be able to forgive me. I don't take criticisms against you and hopefully you can continually guide me as I improve my blogging skills. :p

As we end 2010, I would just like 10 people/group that have been influential to the successful year of kahitanoito. In random order, here are the people I would like to thank:
  • Yoshinoya Philippines YCPI - One of the first companies who supported this blog. I was very amazed that even I'm a new blogger they did not hesitate to support me. Thanks for the partnership and hopefully I will be able to still partner with you to more contest and promo with my blog.
  • Thunderbird Resorts - I am very surprised when Nikka sent me an email inviting me to blog for their resort in Rizal. It was one of the best blogging experiences that I had this year and I truly treasure it. I would like to thank Thunderbird Resorts especially Nikka and Princess for the great support!
  • Nokia Philippines - One of the tech companies that has been a strong supporter of this blog. I am very happy how fast they respond to my queries and to address my concerns. I am very happy with the partnership with them. Thanks Ms. Nikka Abes and the entire Nokia Philippines for the support
  • Adidas Philippines - I have always been a constant blogger to be invited to their events. I really liked their products and it is also an honor to blog for something you really like to wear.
  • KFC Philippines - I would also like to thank KFC for always keeping me on the loop on their events. They are one of the most supportive and kind companies I met on my blogging career. I also love blogging them as I'm really a certified finger-licking good addict!
  • SM Supermalls/Cyberzone/Cinema/Bowling and group of companies - Also a great partner on this blog, I would like to thank them for consistently inviting me on their events. Thanks and will be happy to blog for your company.
  • Coffee Companies (Starbucks Philippines, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Philippines, Seattle's Best Coffee Philippines) - These 3 coffee companies has been very supportive and helpful for me this year. They were able to help me understand their company better and the products that they offer and also the communities that they help. I enjoy each of your products and hope to be invited always with your events as well.
  • AXN Asia - An Amazing Race fanatic like me will be honored to blog for AXN. I am very happy that this year, amidst not being part of the TARA4 or the mini-event, I was able to get close to our best bets for TARA 4 and even cover their victory party. Thanks to Ms. Joyce Ramirez for making it possible.
  • Fellow Bloggers + PR Agencies (Green Bulb PR, Perlas and Luna, Fuentes Manila, Publicity Asia, Geiser Maclang) + Nuffnang Philippines - I will not have sufficient post on this blog without the invite from these PR firms. I would like to thank Green Bulb PR for being the first PR agency to invite me on the events. Perlas & Luna has always been there as well to invite me for Ayala land, Pizza Hut and other events. Fuentes Manila has been one of my partners lately this season and I really appreciate their flash as lightning response to my queries. I would also like to thank Gaeslar Maclang for inviting me on their events as well. I would also like to thank my fellow blogger Az for always extending invite to me and I really appreciate it. I would also like to thank all the bloggers whom I have treated as a friend this year. Thanks Jeff, Jonel, Jayson, Arvin, Lace, Alvin, Jay-el, Resly, Abet, Ning, Alex, Mel, Ryan, Anton, Gael, David, Ching and all the other bloggers which I have met this year. Thanks to Nuffnang Philippines as well for allowing me to be a Nuffnanger and be invited on their events and promos.
  • Loyal Kahitanoito Blog Followers and Fans - I could not say more but thanks for all the help. I may not be usually posting entries on this blog but really appreciate the support every time I post one. I have instances where I think this is useless but you are the life of this blog. Hope you can help expand the community of supporters of this blog. A very big THANK YOU for always supporting me!

All these will not be possible without the guidance of our Lord up above. I know He wanted me to be a blogger to be an influence to others while improving myself as well. Hope more blessings this coming year and my blogger friends expand 11 times more this 2011. I promise myself to have more time as well this year. :)

For many years now, AXN has been claiming the top position as Southeast Asia’s leading international channel.  Especially in the key markets of Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines, viewers have embraced AXN as one of their favourite entertainment destinations.  As the year 2010 is coming to an end, AXN once again cements its position as Southeast Asia’s number one international channel, averaging 10.2 million viewers every month to take the top spot in results tabulated from January to October 2010.

Malaysia, in particular, is a star performer.  Not only is AXN the top international network, it is also the most-watched channel on Astro, leading in average monthly viewer reach at 5.9million.  Amongst English channels, AXN beats the next closest competitor in primetime ratings by 24%, and out of the 14 first-run shows that AXN aired in 2010, 10 premiered at the top of the ratings chart.

Likewise, AXN is ahead of all English pay-TV channels in Singapore in primetime ratings among cable 15+; while in the ultra-competitive market of Philippines where all channels are offered on the basic tier, AXN leads in the English general entertainment category among cable 16+ audience.

Says Mr. Ricky Ow, Senior Vice President and General Manager, SPE Networks – Asia, “Our report card for the first 10 months shows some really great result for the year as a whole. Especially with superb ratings from two key shows in the last quarter – The Amazing Race Asia and Hawaii Five-0 – it is pretty much a foregone conclusion that AXN will finish strongly as Southeast Asia’s top English channel for 2010.”

Indeed, viewers can expect an exhilarating run to the finish-line in the fourth quarter, starting with a chart-topping performance from the highly-anticipated premiere of the re-imagined Hawaii Five-0 that airs Sundays 9PM on AXN.  The elite team of crime-fighters led by Alex O’Loughlin as Steve McGarrett in the reboot of the TV classic certainly mesmerized viewers as the original series did 42 years ago, passing the ratings test with flying colours.  Asia’s very own reality production, The Amazing Race Asia, is another favourite that never fails to thrill viewers across the region.  Here is how each market fared with these two marquee shows so far:

In Singapore, Hawaii Five-0 captured the hearts of both young and old viewers, winning the timeslot during its premiere on 14 November among all English channels on StarHub, and beating the next closest competitor by 20%. Subsequently, episode two on 16 November rated higher and even broke the record to become the top programme of the year… not just on AXN, but amongst all premiering English drama series in 2010 on StarHub!

In Malaysia, the Hawaii Five-0 premiere ratings surpassed all English pay-TV networks during the timeslot, out-performing even the Formula 1 final race which aired at the same time The Amazing Race Asia also put in some stellar performances since the latest season premiere in September.  Its season-to-date ratings is ahead of the next highest-rated English channel by a whopping 175%!

With Team Philippines led by Richard Hardin and Richard Herrera winning this season of The Amazing Race Asia, this AXN Original Production won in its timeslot among all international ad-supported channels, and saw an increase of 71% in average ratings over the previous season.

Ow continues, “I would like to sincerely thank our viewers, as well as our cable partners and sponsors, for all the support we have received in making AXN the number one international channel in Southeast Asia. It is precisely because of their great support, that we have been able to expand our AXN family of channels, which today includes Animax, AXN Beyond, Sony Entertainment Television, as well as ONE.  With the expanded suite of channels, we will be able to cater to even more viewers, provide greater variety and deliver a diverse range of programmes to suit the whole family’s viewing preferences.  We have enjoyed a good year, and it is my promise to all our viewers that next year will be even more exciting.”

Personally, I am one of the biggest fans of this channel. The moment I went home I get my remote control and press Channel 34 (this is the channel for our cable network). I enjoy AXN most especially this year when they brought back my all time favorite Amazing Race with both the US and Asia edition. I hope we can have another season of Amazing Race next year (hope I can be part of the contestants) and more season for Hawaii Five-O.

Advising and influencing the Ref's decision will be a rotating panel of ‘experts’ comprising top celebrities, comedians and sports stars who will weigh in and offer their own wit, wisdom and unique opinions. Guest stars featuring through the series include Tina Fey, Eva Longoria Parker, Larry David, Ricky Gervais, Madonna, Martha Stewart, Sheryl Crow, Tracy Morgan, Gloria Estefan, Donald Trump and Gwyneth Paltrow.

At the close of last season, Deb was ready to let go of her past and embrace her new life as Jane. But the unexpected arrival of Jane’s “secret” husband, Ethan (Devon Gummersall), at her doorstep left her with more questions than ever. To make matters worse, Jane may be disbarred after breaching client-attorney confidentiality when, against the firm’s advisement, she reported her client for fraud. Faced with a new love triangle and the uncertainty of her career, Jane must, once again, chart out a new future for herself…

The 13-episode second season of Drop Dead Diva features breakout star Brooke Elliott (Wicked, Taboo”), Margaret Cho (Ghost Whisperer, Notorious C.H.O.), Jackson Hurst (The Tree of Life), Kate Levering (Cashmere Mafia), April Bowlby (Two and a Half Men), Josh Stamberg (Lie to Me) and Ben Feldman (The Perfect Man). The Season 2 opener of Drop Dead Diva will feature entertainer Paula Abdul (American Idol) reprising her role as Judge Paula Abdul, a figment of Jane’s subconscious. Devon Gummersall (“My So-Called Life”) and David Denman (“The Office”) return as guest stars this season.

Joining them in their growing law practice is new associate Lisa Tyler (Jurnee Smollett, The Great Debaters), an enthusiastic young attorney looking to put her exotic dancing days behind her; and their young assistant, Sophie (Tanya Fischer, Life On Mars), a spunky and sweet ingénue who is eager to please her bosses.

Nokia, the world’s no. 1 mobile phone manufacturer, has formed an alliance with Microsoft, the world’s leader in software, to design, develop and market mobile productivity solutions to Nokia smartphones.

The solution delivers direct, secure access to email and personal information through the organizations’ Microsoft Exchange servers, enabling employees to connect to their corporate mail server with their Nokia smartphone without the need for additional servers. It is fast becoming the solution of choice among businesses since it became available for Nokia Smartphones on more than 550 operator networks worldwide.

Using Microsoft® Exchange, you can deploy Mail for Exchange to synchronize email, calendar, contacts and tasks on over 50 Nokia smartphone models, including the Nokia E5, Nokia E52, Nokia E72 and Nokia E63.

“IT directors are being pressured to deploy business mobility solutions such as email, IM and intranet access for more employees, but without the high costs they have had to spend on additional middleware, licenses and maintenance,” says Benoit Nalin, General Manager of Nokia Philippines.

“Nokia is doing more than any other handset company to help businesses go mobile. Microsoft will design and develop mobile productivity, communication and collaboration solutions, and we will jointly bring them to market – giving our smartphones the edge over the competition,” added Nalin.

In addition to accessing email, if your company has a Microsoft® Office Communications Server or Lync 2010, employees also enjoy direct access to corporate instant messaging through Microsoft® Communicator Mobile, which was the first new application to be delivered by the two companies as part of their strategic alliance announced last year.  This solution is already available on the Nokia E5, Nokia E52 and Nokia E72 smartphones.

The Nokia business smartphones are powerful mobile offices that offer business grade security solutions for secure corporate connectivity. Users of these business-optimized devices also enjoy access to maps, navigation, apps and other services through Ovi. Business category apps in the Ovi Store, such as Worldmate, F-Secure Anti-Theft for Mobile, Boingo, Bloomberg and ClicktheCity, have also significantly increased in popularity.

“We are very happy to collaborate with Nokia in creating a set of services that will give Filipinos control over their personal and business tasks, as well as enable individuals to accomplish work more efficiently with Microsoft business solutions,” said John Bessey, Managing Director, Microsoft Philippines. “With this partnership, we hope to maximize the potential of the smartphone market by letting users take full advantage of the benefits of Microsoft’s innovative unified communications technologies such as Microsoft Exchange Server and the recently launched Microsoft Lync Server 2010.”

The alliance of Nokia and Microsoft will continue to provide businesses easy mobilization and maximized IT investments. Overtime, the two companies plan to deliver Microsoft Office Mobile and related applications, including mobile-optimized versions of Word Mobile, Excel Mobile, PowerPoint Mobile and OneNote Mobile to Nokia smartphones.  And people can eventually access intranet and extranet portals built on Microsoft SharePoint on their Nokia devices.

Through business messaging solutions that are developed, tested and certified by Microsoft, Nokia will be able to give new user experiences that will better meet the needs of mobile professionals.

------------------

I personally like Nokia phones because for its compatibility my Microsoft programs. I can easily sync my calendar from my Microsoft Outlook so I can keep up to date of my schedule without the hassle of turning my laptop on just to check this information. In this partnership of Nokia and Microsoft, we can expect more innovations and collaboration between the two companies to provide the best service for their consumers.

I learned that SEAIR is once again hosting a blogging contest as posted on the South East Asian Airlines Facebook fan page and this time they are planning to go way up North...Batanes. I'm a true-blooded South person (people living in Metro Manila cities in the South - Taguig) that both of my parents are born and raised in Southern provinces as well. I've never been to the northern provinces of the Philippines (even Baguio) that the northest province I have been is Zambales (Subic). Since I don't know about Batanes, I had research it on my Philippine map at my room to see where it is. I'm not that good at Philippine geography and the only thing that sticks to my mind about Batanes is the movie of my crush, Iza Calzado, and the F4 member Ken Chu entitled "Batanes: Ang pag-ibig ay walang hangganan". I never knew it was really that way north of our map that it is even closer to Taiwan as compared to Manila.

I am then curious what is really in Batanes. Due to my great impulse and low emotional quotient (EQ), I decided to fly via SEA Air to Batanes and not join this contest anymore. Good thing I saved up quite a sum of money for this trip and booked the earliest flight to Batanes.

I lined up at the airport to get my boarding pass for my SEAIR flight. I even asked the lady at the counter to put me on a window seat, and fortunately the friendly staff granted my request. On board the plane, I was listening to my favorite Christmas carol (Winter Wonderland) as I look at the breath-taking view of the Philippine Islands. I'm really glad I experienced the best flight in town and seated at the best seat to capture this moment. The flight was very smooth and quick that I never knew we are already approaching Batanes. The pilot already announced our descent at the airport in a few minutes. The pilot is so great that I haven't felt we already declared touchdown. I tried checking the GPS of my phone and its reading 20.448407,121.975193 and it is really confirmed I'm in Batanes.

Soon as we arrived at Batanes, I can already feel the winds from South China Sea and Philippines Sea converging and pampering my skin. My whole body is freezing and yet it felt hot with the warm greetings of the locals upon our arrival. I am amazed to see Ivatan native dressed on their traditional vacul (women's headdress) and kanayi (men's native vest). I never thought these things can still make fashion but seriously it looks good and I said to myself to buy one before I leave.

Since I have to be back at Manila the following day, I already asked a local guide to roam me around Batanes. Every single snap of my camera is like beauty captured in a moment. I cannot erase a single picture on my camera as even the blurry of all pictures created an effect so beautiful. The cold winds even added majestic experience on the whole experience.
I visited the historical stone houses of Batanes. I am simply amazed by their creativity and the authenticity of these native homes still surviving amidst the different harsh typhoon that crossed this majestic place. As I'm taking picture of the stone house, I then notice an old parola (lighthouse) still standing at the seaside. I then asked my guide that we went to that place. As I approached the parola, I can hear the melancholy of the waves whispering to my ears pulling me closer to my destination. The splash of waters over the big boulders of smooth stones at shore create a unique set of notes. When I arrived at the lighthouse, my heart pounded even harder. I took every shots on every angle of it like there's no tomorrow. I even had a landscape picture that I liked with the waves rushing towards the enormous beauty of this parola. It was already almost afternoon when I finished my shot. A layer of fog begins to enveloped the place and good enough I was able to capture it. I then asked myself "Am I already in heaven?" as it seems the only thing missing are the angels and St. Peter around with the whole scenery that time.

My body is exhausted yet my spirit is still fully charged. I then decided to go to my residence and have some dinner. I am not that experimental in terms of food but it was great that the local cook at my residence prepared something so special and to remind me of the day ahead. He prepared a local dish named Lunes, which is a pork fried in its own fat. On the side they also have supas, which I regret to pass since I don't eat rice anymore but on the other hand tried their dish made of snails called Mirada and Ubud. There's also a mixture of salad made from the local fern found at the backyard. The cook even bought their famous coffee from Honesty Coffee Shop. At a distance, my dinner is more memorable as there a neighbor teens sing an old Ivatan song. I asked our cook the title of the song and he told me it is entitled Laji. The entire moment is really great and so sumptuous that I forgot to take pictures of the food and drinks. :|

I know a long day of work is ahead of me when I get back to Manila but the experience is really great. The entire cool breeze made it even more fantastic. I think this is the winter experience Filipinos will surely love. It might not have the white flakes of snow that we usually imagine as a kid but the cool breeze embraced by the warm and kind Ivatan of Batanes is incomparable. How I wish I have my closest friends with me during this time. I made a final picture taking of the folks around at night to feel the further the literally wind blowing experience of Batanes. I can smell the Filipino winter in the air passes over my shoulders as I concentrate and focus my camera on the shots I am taking amidst the darkness. I want to take more pictures but then the battery is already empty. I then decided to get back to my residence at Batanes and have a good sleep preparing for the work day ahead.

"KRINGGGGGGGGGGGG" - its the alarm of my phone. I then try to find my cellphone to put it on snooze. I am really lazy to wake up then something struck me...the sound of Izza Calzado in the background with the buzzing noise of our aircon. I then tried to stand up and look at the surroundings. I then noticed that my headset is still on my ears connected on my laptop with the VCD of the movie Batanes continuously playing. My mom was asking what's wrong with me having a strange look at my face. I then hurriedly looked for my camera to see what are the last pictures saved but it was all the pictures of the food from the last restaurant that I've been. It then made me realize that all the things I just discussed is nothing but a dream. My brain must have been so excited to see Batanes that it created a scenery with the cold wind coming from the aircon from my room and from the images of Batanes that I have seen as I am preparing my entry for SEAIR. For a moment, I felt sad that it was all in my mind. However, as I'm prepping for work my optimism strikes again and remembered of the on-going contest of SEAIR. I then know that it might be a sign that I should join their promo and all these memories will become a reality, Deja vu as they might say it. Hope it is really a Deja vu and I can be selected as one of the seven bloggers to be chosen. I've never been to Northern part of the Philippines and I want to experience what is way up there.

I hope you do like my entry. Please do like my post or leave a comment if you will. Hopefully SEAIR grants my wish and be part of the seven lucky bloggers to enjoy a Batanes Escapade...
