The summer heat is already making its presence felt in the metro recently. Every time you go out you can feel the sun 'grilling' you to the extreme. It's the same hot sensation that you don't like when your friends are putting you on a hot seat and 'grilling' you with controversial questions. There's only one 'grill' that I truly enjoy and that is the crackling sound of a grilled food. (yum)

I grew up excited most of the time waking up on a Sunday. Aside from it is the day of worship that we go together as one family in the church, it is also the day my family prepare us the best meals since everyone in the family is present. I'm a lover of grilled food may it be from a simple barbeque we can find in nearby place in the village or to the creme dela creme grilled steaks from resto. That's why whenever my family decided to cook grilled meats, I will suddenly have selective amnesia in relation to my diet plans and just concentrate on waiting my grilled meats. I can still remember how the crackling sound of fat as it touches the blazing charcoal is like music to my ears. The smoke coming from the grill provides an illusion to my eyes of a priceless food yet to touch my pallette...just uttering these words make me hungry.

I suddenly want to prepare grilled dinner this coming Easter Sunday. If I were to prepare, I will definitely prepare a Chicken ala Pobre. I chose chicken as my meat because my family is now health conscious and chicken will be the better alternatives so everybody can still indulge with our all-time favorite ala Pobre. I remember my Dad doing his 'experimental' recipe of ala Pobre before to marinade the meat for grilling and how he will still spend hours to prepare the mixture. Fortunately, even an amateur like me will not sweat doing the grill ala Pobre style with McCormick Steak a la Pobre Seasoning Mix. If you don't know what is this, then read below:

“A la Pobre”, which means “of the poor”, is a funny name for a dish rich in taste and flavor to add on your favorite grilled meat or beef, pork and chicken with McCormick Steak a la Pobre Seasoning Mix.  The distinct taste of garlic, soy sauce and other special herbs and spices is captured to provide you the exact taste of “a la Pobre” cooking style
I have great trust with McCormick because this brand have been part of our kitchen arsenal since my childhood days and I know McCormick is really the flavor expert! Each pack of McCormick Grill Mates Seasoning Mixes (Pepper Steak, Hickory Smoked, Cajun, Steak a la Pobre, and Korean BBQ) gives you a wonderful blend of authentic McCormick herbs and spices. McCormick brings passion to flavor just making the grilling sound of your meat more with melody, the smoke further amplifying the vision of the food, providing an intense aroma to make you taste the food with just smelling it and especially it can make your food taste like coming from a Michelin star resto -- making your 'A la Pobre' now 'A la Sosyal'

I know you might be salivating already just reading my post. If you want to experience it for real with other grill lovers like me then be a part of the McCormick Grill Nation on April 7, 4pm onwards at the Bonifacio High Street! This event by McCormick tries to bring families and friends together and especially on a Sunday when all of the family are together...no better way to enjoy it on the outdoors tasting the great grilled foods further improved by McCormick Grill Mates Seasoning Mixes.

Be a part of the McCormick Grill Nation on April 7, 4pm onwards at the Bonifacio High Street!
What are you waiting for? Mark your calendars already on April 7 and text your family members to make themselves available for a nice grilling activity. See you there on April 7!

Coca-Cola PBA Youngstars!

It's summer time once again and for most students it's a big time of break. A lot will be spending time indoors given the scorching heat of the sun. I know though that young guys wants to be active and play Filipino favorite sports also during this season. Good news as Coca-Cola Philippines recently reaffirmed its commitment to promote healthy and active living during the second year kick-off of the Coca-Cola PBA Youngstars Basketball League

A snapshot of the press conferene

Last March 22, members of the media including us bloggers attended a press conference to formally kick-off their commitment on this. If you are not aware Coca-Cola PBA Youngstars is a nationwide grassroots program, which aims to reach out to more than 7,000 aspiring basketball stars aged 13 to 16 across different cities, provinces, and municipalities in the country.

Atty. Adel Tamano, VP for Public Affairs & Communications for Coca-Cola Philippines, discussed the program with bloggers

“We have partnered with the Philippine Basketball Association for this program because leading an active healthy lifestyle has a positive impact on health and wellbeing, delivering a range of physical, mental and social benefits especially for young people,” says Atty. Adel Tamano, Vice-President for Public Affairs and Communications for Coca-Cola Philippines.

The thrust of Coca-Cola Philippines towards Healthy and Active Living is hinged on a global commitment to well-being, women empowerment and water replenishment.

Active and healthy living helps consumers make informed choices about day-to-day food consumption, proper hydration, and the benefits of engaging in various forms of exercise like basketball.

PBA Commissioner, Atty. Chito Salud, answers question from the media during the event

“We want Coca-Cola PBA Youngstars participants to embrace active healthy living. And as the leading beverage company in the Philippines, the three-step action plan of Coca-Cola towards this is to Think, Drink, Move. To Think means to be educated through Coca-Cola programs like our basketball clinics.  To Drink means to carefully consider one’s beverage choices and hydrate properly. Coca-Cola has a wide variety of products that people can choose from, depending on their taste, as well as energy or calorie needs. To Move means to engage in physical activity like basketball to achieve energy balance,” adds Tamano.

Through Youngstars, teen participants get a 360-degree exposure to the Think, Drink, Move concept.

My National Breakfast Day coupon!
I read from my fellow blogger friends about this event happening today and I want to try out the experinece. I woke up as early as 4am today as I'm very excited to experience the National Breakfast Day courtesy of McDonald's. I'm not a morning person but have to wake up early to ensure I can still make the 1st 1000 customers of my nearest McDo Store.
Staff from McDo Chino Roces branch giving out our coupons
We tried visiting the McDonald's Chino Roces branch near the Makati exit of Skyway ramp. I'm very impressed as they accommodated us even if we chose the drive-thru option. There's already a friendly staff waiting for us and asked how many are we inside the car. We were then given the coupon (above) and went straight to the counter to claim our warm and delicious Egg McMuffin. Yum! We have our food in just a minute!
Our muffin!
I tried checking how things went for dine-in and take-out customers of the branch. I'm very happy to see that  the McDo staff are very prepared for this event. The managers and McDo representatives are at the entrance very happy to greet and give your coupon. They even have prepared line if the queue gets long but it was not used anymore since the staff are very efficient and they were able to quickly receive orders and give muffin to their beloved customers. I have seen how happy the customers are when they received their free McDo Egg McMuffin. Some (even me) requested that their promo becomes daily already. Hehe!
McDo Chino Roces branch started to be filled with customers joining the National Breakfast Day!

Well, I can definitely say that McDo really started my day right filling up my body with a delicious muffin. It's really great that my sacrifice to get up really was rewarded by McDo. This definitely started my day and even week right. Kudos to McDo for their successful National Breakfast Day. March 18, 2013 has become remarkable and memorable to a lot of Filipinos. Net, I agree with their mantra "Hooray for Today"!

Hope next time I can be invited by McDo on their succeeding events so I can share it with my readers as well.

There's a saying that your friends, or sometimes your room or hygiene or even the movies you watch can describes you as a person. However, I also want to add that your personality can be expressed with your style.

I'm a young, simple person and at the same time adventurous & experimental while being always on the go. I want to be different and make an impact even in my own little ways. I think these characteristics is evident on the choices that I make on my own style everyday. Here's my  look last week to show:
My look - simple yet making a statement
Last week, I need to go to a party after work so I decided to wear this outfit. I wear a dark colored pants, plaid button down, grey coat, putting an accent with my 4-in1 necktie and most especially my striking blue adidas Neo shoes. I like my 4-in-1 necktie so I can quickly change my aura with just a simple twist. As you can see from my look above, it may seem simple and yuppie looking but with my blue adidas shoes it can always make a second look from every person I meet. I think it is not normal as well to see someone wearing blue shoes so this side also presents my adventurous personality. It is also not that weird looking that still can be acceptable to be worn on a working environment.
My after work look
After work, I can just remove my coat and tie. In that line, I can quickly go from work-mode to party mode in an instant. I also like that quick change since I don't want to carry a lot of things just to change. I want also my style and clothes to be fully comfortable in any place I'm situated in. Just like me, I want to be just free, comfortable and I can easily mingle with different groups of people that I'll be introduced.
My casual look
On a normal casual day, I want to wear with a simple shirt (usually from adidas) and pants pairing it with my Neo shoes as well. I want this look since this may seem simple look but the color combination of it also presents my colorful personality. My red+blue combination in a subtle way also presents my side of being nationalistic just like my blog that SHARES posts which creates positive INFLUENCE and IMPROVE the life of any individual from all walks of life.

If you want to express yourself through style, then don't worry as adidas NEO is now on the market to help bring out your personality. See more from the post below:

Smart-Araneta Coliseum a few hours before Game 1
Volleyball has really come a long way already in our country. We usually see it played before just on the road ("larong kalye") but now it has become the newest favorite sport of Filipinos. No doubt that this is because of the level of excitement, drama and rivalry seen as this game played in UAAP.

Last March 2, 2013, Smart-Araneta Coliseum has been filled up by a lot of enthusiasts and volleyball followers how the crucial game 1 will unfold. I'm personally excited too and has been up all day and night looking at Ticketnet website just to ensure I can have good seats. I'm happy that I was able to watch the game live as it is really one hell of a game for both the men's and women's finals.

The game started with the men's finals between the 1st place NU and the defending champion and 2nd place FEU. The game seems to be favoring so much with FEU given the strong hits from Depamaylo, Faytaren, Avila, Dela Calzada, and Tonquin. That is even without their captain and setter De Ocampo who is still suffering from ACL tear. However, tables have turned and after Set 3-5 NU claimed victory with the leadership of Peter Den Torres. Watching NU come from behind is really amazing and their hits are really sharp and hard that FEU cannot really stop. It was truly a dramatic win for NU.

After the men's game, the most awaited rivalry and war started with DLSU Lady Spikers and Ateneo Lady Eagles. The crowd was really roaring especially when the announcer called Mika Reyes and Alyssa Valdez from both teams.
DLSU Lady Spikers at the court
The first 2 sets, similar to FEU, was a very easy win for ADMU. They really surprised DLSU given they made Alyssa Valdez to be a middle hitter rather than an open spiker. DLSU Lady Spikers could not think of a possible remedy to stop the bleeding until the middle of the 3rd set. Fortunately, they were able to rise and conquer it to extend the game. The 4th set was quite a controversial set given this was so tight until the crucial mistake from Alyssa at 22-all score when she is still on the court making them 7 players for Ateneo. It led to an opening for DLSU to claim the set. The momentum was obviously with DLSU and they are very confident with their hits that ADMU cannot get back anymore even if they tried their usual strategy and putting Nacachi as the middle hitter. Gorayeb made a crucial decision on 12-6 score by putting Tiu and Ahomiro, which even hurt them as DLSU was able to close it for Game 1 victory at 15-6 score on the 5th set. Here's the game point score video I was able to record while at Araneta.

Truly UAAP volleyball was truly dramatic and very exciting. I'm sad I will not be able to watch Game 2 but hope everything will go as exciting as Game 1. Kudos to ADMU and FEU for putting a great fight during Game 1
